This has been the best summer of sailing
for me, period. One 2 weeks ago My son Keith and Don Obrian and his
wife Anthy drove to the Delta and sailed to Stockton, and stayed on a
deserted island overnight then returned the next day. Then I met Mike in
Redding with his new Weekender and did the same sail. This time I
tacked up wind 10 miles, came about and in 20-30 kts wind crushed the
water back 7-9 kts. Other boats were yelling and laughing at
the speed Rosebud was making. I do think that was the best sail I have
ever experienced. Last week we sailed down the Petaluma River to a
special spot with 1930s cabins hidden in the wetlands, they can only be
accessed by water and most do not know how to get there. One of these
cabins the friends of the Petaluma river has restored. Most are melting
into the water. Spent the night and fished off the dock. Luke caught a
stripped bass, saw muskrats and otters, many birds...
