How do I find the 19' lumber needed for the Vacationer Keel?

While some of us still have access to long, good quality lumber locally, others don't. People have substituted Spruce or Poplar for the keel, but more and more builders are scarfing the boards (joining them by making angled cuts on the ends). Another good solution is to stagger the butt joints of shorter length pieces of 1X12. We don't recommend using 2X12's, unless you can have them planed back down to 3/4" thickness.
